The Award-winning Smoke & Fire returns to Colchester for one weekend this August.Providing a fantastic family day out and an unforgettable taste experience that will really light your fire! A ‘foodies’ paradise with a little something for everyone to enjoy. Come and experience something genuinely innovative, exciting, engaging. Featuring our O’Donnell Moonshine BBQ ALLEY showcasing all of the latest BBQs and Smokers for you to experience, try and get up close whilst enjoying Moonshine cocktails. See all the top tips and techniques on our customised Demonstration FIRE STAGE hosted by DJ BBQ and featuring some of the world’s top PitMasters, Fire Chefs, and Fire Jockeys from cooking Brisket to Plant-based BBQs Sample. Get in amongst Award-Winning Street traders and the teams at this year’s Great British Open BBQ Championships; this year also sees our first SCA  Steak Cookoff contest, which will be the heart of the Festival. Dare you enter one of our X-treme Eating challenges, check out the roaming entertainment, dance to top bands and live music, and let your kids run wild with all of the planned activities and workshops. So sit back, relax, enjoy good food, admire the surroundings and soak up the atmosphere of the Smoke & Fire Colchester Festival.

Castle Park

  • Accessibility

    • Blue badge and disabled car parking is available in the High Street and Castle Street. Most areas of the Park are fully accessible on tarmac paths. However, as a historic landscape, some areas are only accessible by steps – these are the fishpond area and bandstand podium.

  • Public Transport

    • By train: Colchester Castle Park is a 10-minute walk from Colchester (Town) Station along Queens Street – head for the castle, the park is located just behind. Alternatively, we are a 20-minute walk from the main Colchester (North) Station.
    • By bus: Colchester Bus Station is located on Osborne Street in the Town Centre and runs regular services locally and regionally. There is also a Park and Ride from the A12 at junction 28.
