With nearly 40 years’ experience in the business and as the premier name in comedy, The Comedy Store is renowned as a breeding ground for new comedy talent, and remains the place to see tomorrow’s stars today. The likes of Eddie Izzard, John Bishop, Jimmy Carr, Rhod Gilbert and Sarah Millican, have all cut their comedy teeth with us.

We bring you “The Best In Stand Up” from around the globe, showcasing the brightest names in comedy today.

Regular headliner and host of Comedy Store, Glees, Off the Kerb, Avalon, Highlights, Backyard, CKP Productions, CSE Military gigs as well as being the curator behind the award-winning chain of Outside the Box Comedy Clubs.

Marlon Davis

Marlon Davis is a talented comedian, improviser and actor whose recent TV appearances include BBC’s Live At The Apollo and Comedy Central’s Comedy Store Live. 

Beginning his career in stand-up comedy in 2005, Marlon Davis made the final of two national competitions Laughing Horse and So You Think You’re Funny at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival the following year, very quickly and firmly cementing his status as a rising star on the comedy circuit. 

Marlon has supported Kevin Bridges, Michael McIntyre and Alan Carr on tour and is performing at clubs, arts centres and theatres all over the UK. Marlon’s act is inspired from his upbringing, exploring urban Britain tackling its social issues with skilful characterisations.

Carl Donnelly

Carl Donnelley

Carl is an accomplished stand-up comedian and is a regular at all of the finest comedy clubs in the UK and Ireland, he has been nominated for the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy award for Best Newcomer with Relax Everyone, it’s Carl Donnelly! and Best Comedy Show with Now That’s What I Call Carl! Volume V. His conversational, silly sense of humour has seen him win a host of awards (Chortle Best Club Comedian 2017; Chortle Best Newcomer 2007; Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2007; among others) 

As well as being a notable British comedian Carl has ventured overseas to Australia and regularly appears at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. 

Carl has also appeared on various TV shows including Mock The Week (BBC 2), One Night Stand (Dave), Stand Up for the Week (C4), Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC Three), Stand Up Central (Comedy Central) and Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled (Dave). His radio appearances include The Back End of Next Week (BBC 5live), Loose Ends (Radio 4) and Act Your Age (Radio 4) as well as being a regular guest on talkSPORT. He has co-hosted a radio show for the Fubar Radio app and an acclaimed podcast that he recorded with Chris Martin. 

 

Abigoliah Schamaun 

Abigoliah Schamaun

Abigoliah a product of her New York stand up roots; frank, funny, and unapologetic. She first showed her face in the UK comedy scene when she became a finalist in the Funny Women Comedy Awards 2010 and has grown a Edinburgh Fringe following coming back yearly ever since. She moved to London in 2014 and has become a regular on the circuit. She was named “One to Watch” at Leicester Comedy festival 2017 and The List named her “Top 5 Up and Coming Female Comedians”   

As the only yoga instructor/comedy in comedy Abigoliah presents her always hilarious comedy with an open-heart chakra. Bringing her audience into her world with the warmth and excitement like a friend who you haven’t seen in a while. 

Her comedy extends past the stage as she was nominated in 2016 for a Malcom Hardee “Cunning Stunt Award” for buying an incredible amount of outside advertising and then plastering them with fake reviews poking fun at the usefulness of the critic’s words.      

She has been featured on Channel 5’s Outrageously Funny Comedy, BBC Radio 4 Extra, and The Guilty Feminist Podcast with Deborah Francis-White. She also appeared in Comedy Central’s season 2 of I Live with Models and has opened for Jim Norton, Kyle Kinane, and Gad Emelah.

    • By Train: Located close to North Station pedestrians can reach Charter Hall via a 10 minute walk along footpaths alongside the rail tracks, coming out by the Range, avoiding the busy Cowdray Avenue.
    • By Bus: Colchester Bus Station is located on Osborne Street in the Town Centre, running regular local and regional services. Pedestrians can reach Charter Hall through the picturesque Castle Park to reach us. There is also a Park and Ride from the A12 at junction 28 as well as local services which stop outside our main entrance.
